MBS 403 Muzzle Blast Sensor
Acoustic sensor for detecting projectile exit and generating precise start and stop signals for ballistic measurement chains.
Description
The MBS 403 muzzle blast sensor acoustically detects projectile exit from the muzzle blast and pressure wave. A microphone, amplifier and trigger stage convert the event into a steep digital output pulse for downstream measuring instruments.
The sensor can be used for rate-of-fire measurement, as a start signal for velocity, time-of-flight and fuze-function-time measurements, and as a stop signal for gas-pressure or barrel-time measurements. Sensitivity and positioning are adjusted to the calibre, muzzle pressure and measurement task.
